Account Owner access role
Each company at Float has a single Account Owner. By default, this is the person who created the account. They have full control of your Float account and all company data. They can transfer the ownership to another team member as needed. The Account Owner access role can't be assigned or customized.
Account Owner holds every permission and can:
Access every page in Float.
Manage all company settings, including clients, departments, job roles, tags, currencies, project stages, holidays and time off types, statuses, estimates, timeframes, expense categories, and shared links.
Manage and assign access roles, and give individual people additional permissions.
View, edit, and delete all company data, including people, projects, allocations, tasks, phases, milestones, time off, and logged time entries.
Connect to MCP.
View and edit cost rates and bill rates, manage rate cards, and view finance reports.
The Account Owner is the only user who can:
Edit company details, such as the URL and team name.
Transfer account ownership.
Generate the API key, set up integrations, and manage company notifications.
📝Note: Two other Account Owner permissions can be given to other access roles or individual people as needed: Manage plans and billing and Manage security settings.
How do I check who the current Account Owner is?
To see who the Account Owner is, you need permission to view the People page or Company settings.
If the Account Owner is on your team, they will appear on the People page.
If they are added as guest, they will be listed in Company settings > Admin > Guests.
Transferring the account ownership
The current Account Owner can transfer ownership to another team member in Company settings > General > Account Owner.
The transfer takes effect immediately. After transferring the ownership, the previous Account Owner becomes an Admin with the default Admin access role.

If your current Account Owner is unavailable or no longer has access to Float, please let us know. With confirmation from two team Admins, we will be happy to help with the ownership transfer.
