Float offers two types of user accounts for your team members: People and Guests. Each user can be assigned access rights that determine their view or edit permissions and can be invited to join your team.

People

People:

  • Appear on the team’s Schedule

  • Can be assigned to work.

  • Require a paid seat, even if they do not log in or access Float directly.

  • Can be assigned access rights to view or edit team and projects information.

  • Suitable for employees, freelancers, contractors, and placeholders.

  • Managed on the People page.

People can be added directly on the Schedule or the People page. You can add them manually or use the CSV file for a quick import. Once you set up integrations, you can also import them from other tools you use.

Optionally, you can assign access rights to each team member and invite them to access your team.

Adding people

To learn more about people, check the People article or the Adding People and Guests to your team video guide.

Guests

Guests:

  • Do not appear on the team’s Schedule.

  • Cannot be assigned to work.

  • Free and unlimited – they do not require a paid seat.

  • Can be assigned access rights to view or edit team and projects information.

  • Ideal for schedulers, team leads, or stakeholders who need oversight.

  • Managed in Team Settings > Guests.

Guests can be added in Team Settings > Guests. Adding a guest automatically sends them an invite to access your team.
