With the update of Float's navigation, your team's role bill rates are now managed in Data studio > Rate cards. Until September 9, 2026, you can also view them in Data studio > Roles.
What's changing?
Previously, role bill rates were set and managed in Team settings > Roles & rates. With the introduction of Data studio, role bill rates are now managed in Data studio > Rate cards.
Rate cards let you define role bill rates in one place and apply them across clients and projects. Instead of setting bill rates project by project, you can create a card with bill rates per role once and use it when setting up a project with a fee-based budget.
What happens to your existing role bill rates?
If you were already using role bill rates, they were automatically migrated from Team settings > Roles&rates to Data studio > Rate cards as a Default Rate Card. This is a one-time migration, so you don't need to re-enter rates you've already set. The Default Rate Card includes all the roles you've set for your team, along with their hourly bill rates.
📝Note: Person-level bill rates are not affected by this change. They remain as they are. In-flight and historic project rates are also unchanged. The migration only creates a default rate card from your existing role bill rates.
When is this change going live?
The updated navigation is rolling out gradually across all accounts in mid-July 2026.
To help you adjust, until September 9, 2026, role bill rates also stay visible in Data studio > Roles, alongside your role cost rates.
💡Here's a tip: Use this transition period to review the new layout and check how your default rate card reflects your role bill rates.
From September 9, 2026, Data studio > Rate cards will be the only place to set and manage role bill rates. The role bill rates will no longer be visible and editable from the Roles page.
