General calendar integration issues

Unsyncing calendar events that remain in Float

Disconnecting your calendar integration should automatically remove any synced events. If you’ve already disconnected it but still see calendar events in Float, please contact our Support team for help.

📝 Note: It’s not possible to unsync only specific events or date ranges.

Re-syncing recurring calendar events

If a recurring event was accidentally un-synced, it can’t be re-synced manually within Float.

Workaround:

  • Delete the unsynced allocations in Float.

  • Reconnect your calendar to resync (this won’t remove other data)

If you have a high volume of data, please reach out to our Support team so we can assist on this.

Events not syncing in the calendar or Float

Synced events and allocations should always be modified at their source.

  • If the event was created in Float, make updates directly in Float.

  • If the event was imported from Google or Outlook calendar, make any changes directly in your calendar instead.

Changes made in the calendar to events that were exported from Float won’t sync back to Float. To keep both calendars accurate, always update events at their source.

Duplicate Logged time suggestions

You may see duplicate logged time suggestions when using the calendar integration. This can happen when:

  • The event is set as a daily recurring,

  • You’ve already logged time for it, and

  • You later edit the original calendar event.

This behavior is specific to daily recurring events, as updates to the original calendar can create duplicate entries in Float.

If you notice duplicates:

  1. Refresh your browser. This often clears them automatically.

  2. If not, the update should appear after the next automatic sync. Float checks for calendar changes in real-time, so updates usually appear within a minute or a few minutes if multiple changes are being synced at once. Duplicates are usually cleaned up automatically.

Keep in mind that:

  • Events deleted and recreated in your calendar may be treated as new by Float.

  • Changes to recurring events (e.g. modifying the repeat schedule, editing a single occurrence, or adjusting times) don’t always align with Float’s task structure and may result in duplicate suggestions. This is a known limitation. If duplicates persist, contact Support and include screenshots of the affected events.

Requesting the import of events older than 2 months

Float only imports calendar events from the past 2 months.

Missing calendar events or allocations

If you’re not seeing:

  • Your Float allocations in your calendar, or

  • Your calendar events in Float.

This may be due to connecting the wrong calendar account.

Fix:

  1. Disconnect your calendar integration in Float.

  2. Reconnect to the correct account or calendar.

📝 Note: Many users have multiple calendars named “Calendar.” Double-check the email account you’re connecting to ensure it’s the right one.

If the problem persists, reach out to our Support team at support@float.com and send the following details:

  1. Float calendar integration settings

    1. Go to Personal > Calendar Integration > Sync with Outlook/Google Calendar > Edit

    2. Confirms the setup and connection.

  2. Outlook/Google calendar event

    1. Screenshot the specific event missing in Float.

    2. Include: date, time, calendar name, and whether it’s all-day or overnight.

  3. Float schedule (same date)

    1. Screenshot the same date in Float to compare visibility or differences.

  4. For Outlook - App Access Setting

    1. Confirm Float is listed under connected apps.

      1. Float must have permission to read your calendar data.

“Failed to sync calendar: Unable to add you to project team”

This error appears when:

  • You’re connecting a calendar to a fixed-fee project budget,

  • But you’re not on the project team, or

  • You don’t have a bill rate set.

Fix:

  1. Add a bill rate to your person profile, or

  2. Add yourself to the project team with a bill rate set.

  3. Reconnect your calendar.

If none of these steps solves the issue, contact us at support@float.com.
Please include:

  • A short description of the issue,

  • The calendar type (Google or Outlook), and

  • Screenshots of your Float and calendar setup.
